In conjunction with the forthcoming exhibition Josh Muir: What’s on your mind?, Bendigo Tech School is partnering with Bendigo Art Gallery to provide an exciting Augmented Reality Workshop.
About the Exhibition:
What’s on your mind? Is a new series of new works by Gunditjmara/ Yorta Yorta artist Josh Muir. In collaboration with digital animator Isobel Knowles and experiential design consultancy Art Processors, Muir investigates the role of digital platforms in shaping our current understandings of issues pertaining to the self and our natural world. Drawing on aspects of youth culture and identity, Muir’s exhibition references his Indigenous heritage and personal journey. Having been influenced by street art and images from pop culture, Muir’s unique graphic style showcases the vitality of Indigenous visual culture today.
‘What’s on your mind? is about my personal view of being and is a reflection of my environment. I am raising awareness around mental health and connection to Country through my art.’
‘Social media encourages us to speak when we need to listen to our environment’.
About The Workshop (At The Bendigo Tech School)
After attending the Bendigo Art Gallery to view the exhibition, students will work with a gallery educator to create their analogue response to Muir’s works. Students will then bring their artwork to the Bendigo Tech School where they will learn skills in vector design and key-frame animation (using Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Animate software) to digitise and bring their work to life. Students will then be introduced to the world of AR (Augmented Reality) where they will then learn how to combine the digital with the analogue to augment their new digital artworks for viewers to engage and interact with anywhere.
This program is free of charge for Bendigo Tech School partner schools. Other schools are welcome to participate, however, some costs may be applicable. Please call us to discuss your needs.
