Rail Projects Victoria has partnered with Bendigo Tech School, the Bendigo Discovery Science & Technology Centre and the Goldfields Local Learning and Employment Network to develop the Regional Rail Revival Design Challenge 2050, a team-based competition for school students in the Bendigo region.
The Regional Rail Revival Design Challenge 2050 will give Bendigo-area students from Years 5 to 8 the chance to explore themes and ideas for the future of regional rail travel and help them to understand career opportunities in the rail industry.
Students will form teams, formulate design ideas for an innovation in the future of rail travel, and pitch them to a panel of rail experts, competing to win prizes for themselves and their schools.
The competition will see students engage with ideas about emerging technology, sustainability, communications and connectivity to envision the future of transport.
The pilot program aims to improve educational outcomes in science, technology, engineering, arts and maths (STEAM) for students in the Bendigo region.
Whether your students’ ideas are about the on-board experience, improving the way they get around the station, or using smart and sustainable tech for a more enjoyable journey, we’d love to hear them.
