Open Call for Bendigo Tech School Ambassadors

A Tech School Ambassador is a leadership role for secondary school students who are interested in Science, Technology Engineering, Art, or Mathematics (STEAM).

Ambassadors work alongside students and teachers from other Bendigo schools to develop technology projects for their schools or communities.

Graeme Wiggins, Director of Bendigo Tech School, says the Ambassadors play an essential role in influencing other young people and the community to engage with technology, as well providing an authentic point of reference to help develop and evaluate the Tech School’s learning programs.

Tha Zin Oo Pwint, a year 10 student at Weeroona College Bendigo remarked; “Being a Tech School Ambassador has given me a variety of opportunities and lifelong skills such as design thinking, communication and leadership. Some examples of opportunities I experienced was MCing at the official Bendigo Tech School opening in front of the minister of education was an incredible honour.”

“Ambassadors are leaders who understand the importance of technology to their future and want to help others to explore the possibilities of new and emerging technologies,” Graeme explains.

Early in 2020, we will invite all Teacher and Student Ambassadors to a one-day Leadership Boot Camp. Throughout 2020 the Tech School Ambassadors will meet fortnightly in term time, facilitated by young industry mentors.

“Bendigo Tech School is committed to supporting students to develop agency to design programs and events,” says Graeme. “At the Student Ambassador Bootcamp, we will be equipping these young community leaders with skills in media management, communications, planning and design thinking.”

To become a 2020 Tech School Ambassador, email us and tell us why you think you would be suitable for this role. Bendigo Tech School will contact your school and let them know of your interest.
