On July 21st, VCE Vocational Major students from Girton Grammar School unveiled their sustainable future cities of "Bendigo 2040" at a special showcase held at Bendigo Tech School.
The showcase was the culmination of our 'Future Cities' program, which the students completed over the course of a semester. They were encouraged to think creatively, critically, and collaboratively as they researched, designed, and built their virtual city experiences using Asset Forge 3D modelling software.
During the event, the students presented their ideas (which were aligned with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals and the City of Greater Bendigo Circular Economy Strategy) to industry, education and community guests, including Mayor Cr Andrea Metcalf. Guests then got to step into the virtual city experiences through Hololens mixed reality headsets.
Through this program, these students have been empowered to become change-makers in their communities while acquiring vital work-related skills and personal development. We are so proud of all they have achieved!
